Sea air, close to the airport.
Juhu brings you to the open Arabian Sea without crossing the city, which makes it the most realistic beach for a short layover. Walk the firm sand near the waterline and watch the shore fill with families, kite-flyers and evening walkers. Stay while the light drops towards sunset, then find a stall for pav bhaji or bhelpuri and eat facing the water.

Watch the sea from the sand rather than swimming: the shore is deceptive in the monsoon and on high tides, and lifeguards may whistle you back from deep water. Evenings, weekends and festival days bring large crowds, so keep your bag close, carry water and agree a meeting point. In the rains, check weather alerts first, as beach access can be restricted.
